This is a follow up to my last blog where I suggested that you and your soon-to-be-ex, write a letter to your children about a parenting schedule that puts their interests before your own.
Well, this is a follow-up to that letter. Here we assume you have a parenting plan in place.
The question is, how is it working?
Write a scenario that pictures your children years from now at their high school graduation.
As they receive their diplomas, they look back at the audience and see you both. They have a conversation with each other about how you and your spouse handled their parenting time.
Describe that conversation in your scenario.
Did you stick to the child centered plan or are there constant problems with your ex that hurt the kids.
(Remember, sometimes the kids are the ones at fault. They’re exploiting your guilt to get more for themselves.)
But if they’re not the cause of the problem, then you and your ex need to use the scenario as a tool to try to improve the situation.
Perhaps a mediator can help.
